Davide Cervellin gave me the opportunity to talk about agility in companies that make physical products. It was an interview in which I go back over my professional career and how I came to become a consultant for agile in hardware, then creating Fabbrica Agile (Agile Factory.)
We talked about the elements that I consider central to bringing agility into product development and business management.
These are very “soft” aspects such as the importance of delegation and knowing how to surround oneself with competent people, which forces new leadership styles and paying the price of accepting mistakes.

This is the interview that Davide Cervellin gave me at the inside of his podcast Office of Cards
I am grateful to David for the opportunity he gave me to talk career path led me, after many years in the company, to become an agility consultant
It was very inspiring to engage with David, who always found analogies or other references to facilitate the understanding of my story.
We found some things in common such as a passion for writing to clarify thinking and a quest to balance health and work.
Business Agility for the complexity of business management
We covered many topics such as:
- The importance of the human part of the job too little practiced.
- The importance of delegation and knowing how to surround oneself with competent though not always easy people.
- The leadership styles needed to lead cross-functional teams with competent people and the price of accepting error.
- The adoption of adaptive planning modes and Agile development methodology are changes in approach that help us deal with today’s complex environment.
- The importance of the direct relationship between the chiefs and the operational levels and the necessary support to the chiefs for this new way of working to happen
- Of the importance of ‘Effectiveness over Efficiency that has distinguished and still distinguishes the world of industry.
- What to do to spark new ideas that often arise at times when you take a break. This allowed me to talk about the mindfulness that I practice every morning
- How to escape from cognitive biases that lead us to automatic behaviors.
- Finally, we talked about the ability to connect the dots when we look at a complex, interconnected system. It is a superpower that can be trained by questioning the premises of what we do and what happens.
