Multi-Project Workload Management
Agile Factory's response
Based on our operational experience, these are the possible organizational actions:
- Organize cross-functional development teams so that self-organization and self-management of workload is fostered.
- Make a breakdown of things to do (backlog) for each product under development focused on estimating the workload required
- Identify the skills required for the development of each element of the backlog
- Identify relevant milestones for the release of different parts of the elements to be developed, according to the construction lead time
- Give autonomy to people to better manage the load by agreeing with different project leaders
- Employ scheduling software that manages the multi-project backlog, highlighting the workload by department or type of expertise required
- Employ small-step development (iterative and incremental), releasing product increments and respecting agreed milestones
